Driver Welcome To The Little Cracker Hydroplane Racing Website Drivers Profile Page  Alan Lewis Alan started a career in Motor sport in 1980-1986 driving Rally Cars. From 1986 to 1991 he moved into Kart racing becoming the NZ Champion, Australian Champion, competed in Europe, and the Hong Kong World Cup. In 1998 Alan won 0-2000 6 hour Pukekohe Race in Alfa Romeo 156 Factory Touring Car. Alan's father Colyn Lewis raced boats for many years. He had a 266 cui Chevy Vee Bottom called Little Cracker, Colyn campaigned his boat around NZ and held speed records for this class at 72.6 mph for 8 years. The sport of Powerboat racing was definitely in his blood; he wanted to carry on his father's passion for the sport and took up racing in 1999 with a 3-litre Hydroplane that he also named Little Cracker.  "Click Clipping to Read" In 2004, Alan competed in the World Championships held at Hampton, Virginia. He finished second to racing legend Larry Lauterbach.  "Larry Lauterbach" This Year Alan Lewis will travel from his Auckland, New Zealand, homeland to compete in American Power Boat Association (APBA) inboard hydroplane races at Olympia, Washington, and at the APBA/Union of International Motorboating (UIM) World Championship regatta at Cambridge, Maryland. Alan will arrive in Seattle, Washington on Wednesday, July 7, to prepare himself for the Sunset Chevrolet Regatta at Black Lake, near Olympia, Washington on Saturday July 10 and Sunday July 11. Alan will be driving in the 2.5 Litre Modified Class for "Sho nuff" boat owner John Shewbrooks of Waverly, Ohio.  "Sho nuff" Alan will then travel across the United States to compete at the World Championship Regatta at Cambridge, Maryland. Alan will compete in Cambridge on Friday July 23, Saturday July 24, and Sunday July 25.
